The first time when I pass by the store of MUJI, its clear light and tidy decoration immediately attract my attention. Going into it, I found that there are a lot of self-made products which are beautiful without redundant packaging. It is a famous Japanese retail company which sells a variety of household and consumer goods.

It is said that its name is derived from the first part of Mujirushi Ryohin, which means “No Brand Quality Goods”. It started with 40 products and now there are more than 7000 products included. Its products range from stationery, and clothing for men and women, to food items and appliances for kitchen and bathroom. Now it gradually produces some household goods. It is developed to offer cheap quality goods and were marketed using the slogan ”Lower priced for a reason.” Its “no-brand” strategy means that little money is spent on advertisement or classical marketing and also means its products are attractive to customers who like unbranded products for aesthetic reasons. It has three factory outlets at Osaka, Gotenba and Fukuoka. In addition, it opens 181 stores and supplies 147 outlets. There are also some retail stores in Taiwan and is popular with teenagers for its exquisite design. Although it is not splendid with various colors, the products designed with either white or black make them more quality.

MUJI aims at producing many items in our daily life in order to satisfy customers’ need. Maybe one day it may become a store selling products in all aspects. Comparing to the cost of living in Japan, the price of the products in MUJI is quite expensive. Still, their nice quality and texture lure people to buy.
