It was named after a shoemaker, Johann Adam Birkenstock and her grandson developed many improvements, such as the first flexible arch support to be in shoes. In 1967, a American found Birkenstock sandals relieve her foot condition and founded a trading company called Birkenstock Footprint Sandals, Inc. For example, even super model Heidi Klum designs for Birkenstock and wears them.
