Taking its name from Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, Nike is a world’s leading sportswear brand and it produces a variety of sports products including shoes, T-shirt, shocks and equipments.









It was founded by University of Oregon track athlete Philip Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman in 1964. It was originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports. Later, it opened its first retail store and soon expanded its territory in sports field. The first products were track running shoes. Currently, it also makes some shoes for particular races and practices, such as baseball, ice hockey, lacrosse and cricket. By advertising its products, it sponsors many high profile athletes and sports teams around the world. It lures customers with a marketing strategy aiming at a brand image which is attained by distinctive logo and the advertising slogan “Just do it”.






With its reputation, Nike has revenues in excess of$18.6 billion USD. It can’t be denied that its success results in great marketing strategies and awesome improvements in products.
